BlueInGreene.org was originally created to rebrand the Greene County council of MoveOn.org. (Local MoveOn councils cannot use “MoveOn” in their names.) However, for a variety of reasons—including MoveOn’s status as a federal PAC and the restrictions that go along with that—BlueInGreene decided to sever formal ties with MoveOn.org and become an independent organization.
We continue to believe in fair play, opportunity for all and forward motion. And we will continue to work on behalf of progressive policies in Greene County, the Hudson Valley region and the country at large. We’ll also continue to partner with other progressive groups, including MoveOn, but our new, independent status will allow us to back progressive candidates in ways that PACs cannot.

Organize and Occupy: A Conversation will be held tomorrow at 3 pm at the First Presbyterian Church, corner of Warren and Fourth streets in Hudson. We will be joined by Occupy Albany activists Colin Donnaruma and Daniel Morrisey for a conversation about organizing and outreach in Columbia and Greene Counties to build a strong and sustainable grassroots movement for enduring change.
This is our first event of what promises to be an interesting year! Let’s use it to build momentum for a potent local movement. Please do make a special effort to attend. Let’s take advantage of the rich experience Occupy Albany has had in building a powerful local movement.
Hi Tom, good to see you at the meet-up Saturday afternoon. I have some very good, practical articles on doing publicity and film screenings; if you are interested let me know and I will forward.
Very nice site!
I did not manage to get your full name, nor email address.
Best of luck,
Christian
I have lived in Greene County for 22 years. I enjoy the laid back rural character. While I do see need for growth I moved here because of unbridled growth of Dutchess county. Along with the added tax base came increased taxes. Surprise more taxable property does not lower taxes. Be careful what you wish for………………….sooner or later Albany County will encroach from the North and Dutchess will from the south. You may wish for the cars on blocks and pick up trucks with rifle racks to return.
