Here is a direct quote from today’s Daily Kos Elections Morning Digest:
Underscoring that upstate New York will be a key area in deciding control of the House this year, the NRCC announced big ad reservations in four races, totaling $3.5 million. That includes $1.03 million backing super-vulnerable Rep. Ann Marie Buerkle in the 24th and $1.3 million boosting somewhat less vulnerable Chris Gibson in the 19th, as well as $757K and $574K going after Dems Bill Owens and Kathy Hochul in the 21st and 27th, respectively.
That was the lead item, and it does underscore the importance upstate New York has for the Republicans. It also underscores what a tough battle Julian Schreibman has against Chris Gibson, who is receiving the largest allotment of the right wing’s upstate funding. It’s true that Schreibman will receive funding from the DCCC’s Red-to-Blue Program, but this is not likely to match Gibson’s funding from the NRCC.
So what can progressives in NY-19 do to support Schreibman? Well, you can contribute to and/or volunteer for his campaign.
You can also contact the Schreibman campaign and urge them to ramp up their communications efforts, and quickly. We need signs. We need bumper stickers. We need to see Julian on TV, as often as possible, in news coverage if not in ads. The campaign should be doing more, and doing it faster and smarter. Call them at (845) 765-9494 or email them at info@julianforny.com and urge them to step up their game.
Schreibman can still win this race, but he needs to come out swinging if he’s going to overcome the Republican funding advantage. And he needs to do it soon.
