Mitt Romney’s selection of Paul Ryan as his running mate is a breathtaking endorsement of the far-right wing of the Republican Party. R&R would turn Medicare into an underfunded coupon program and swamp seniors in a morass of paperwork while giving huge new tax breaks to the extremely wealthy. They would roll back America to the robber baron era.
Ryan’s selection this morning should galvanize Democrats to do everything possible to stop the Republicans’ skewed agenda. That starts with reelecting President Obama, of course. But it also entails electing as many Democrats to Congress as possible, to counter the Republicans’ baleful influence at every level.
